FROM THE REC & CURRICULUM LEADER
We are thrilled to share the joyous news that the Catholic Church has a new leader! Cardinal Robert Prevost has been elected as Pope Leo XIV, becoming the 267th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church
This is a momentous occasion for Catholics around the world, and we are excited to celebrate this new chapter in our faith.
The election of the new Pope took place through a process called the Conclave. This ancient and sacred tradition began on May 7th, 2025, when 133 cardinals from around the world gathered in the Sistine Chapel.
The cardinals were locked inside the chapel, away from any outside communication, to prayerfully and thoughtfully cast their votes. After two days of voting, the white smoke from the chapel's chimney signalled that a new Pope had been chosen.
Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, hails from the United States and has a rich history of service within the Church. His election marks a new era of leadership and hope for Catholics everywhere.
Let us join together in prayer and celebration for Pope Leo XIV as he begins his papacy. May his leadership be guided by wisdom, compassion, and a deep commitment to our faith.
