FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
What an interesting week at St Patrick's with the changing demography of our student population each day!
On Wednesday our seniors left for camp and reduced our school population considerably, on the same day Year 1/2 went on their excursion
... so what a wonderfully happy play the Kinders had with their Year 3/4 friends on the flats at recess!
On Thursday with the seniors still enjoying their Canberra excursion, and the Year 3/4's out all day at their AFL gala, the juniors had fun exploring play time 'where the big kids play.' See Mrs Grant's item for more information...
And today, Friday the K-4's enjoyed time together. We are looking forward to hearing the good news about camp learning and fun next week.
SLEEP After such a busy week it is important that all children get some good sleep over the weekend. Sleep recommendations according to health authorities in Australia are:
- Preschoolers (3-5 years): 10-13 hours per day
- School-age children (6-13 years): 9-11 hours per day
- Teenagers (14-17 years): 8-10 hours per day
These recommendations are based on ensuring optimal health and well-being.
Did you know that poor sleep can lead to
-
a child's inability to learn, focus, and retain information
-
irritability, mood swings, and emotional dysregulation
-
hyperactivity, impulsiveness, and behavioural problems
-
a weakened immune system, making children more susceptible to illnesses
and, importantly sleep is crucial for the production of growth hormones and overall physical development. Lack of sleep can hinder a child's growth and development.
Blessings
Jo
